You don’t know at all what is Silent Hill about! You even said Team Silence when it’s Team Silent! Don’t talk about you don’t know! Konami is destroying the series, but thanks only to people like you.

It’s interesting to speculate who could develop new SH title. However, why nobody speculates why Konami changes developers so often? In fact, every new SH (ok, ok, with Climax exception) had a new developer. Everytime it’s like building everything from the ground up, with a team which has no previous experience with horror games or SH games before. Certainly Konami knows that too, however even then they rather go with some new team instead of continuing on collaboration.

I’m pretty sure that some things from this article never happen (at least not any time soon). For example Konami’s sign on project with “indie” (read “small”) developer. Reason: Konami as a big company is interested in big games which they can sell for 50+ USD (at least on a day of release). Such a game can be made by a relatively big studio only — let’s say 50+ people. Any lower number means a potential risk for Konami that they will not get the quality they require. You can make a smaller game but that one cannot be part of your main canon – rather a spin-off, remake or something like that (take a look at Origins, Shattered Memories or Book of Memories). You may ask why. Answer: As an IP holder you do not want to cannibalise or to lower your IP standards. Don’t forget: Your main reason for being in a bussiness is to sell your game for $50+. My advice for any SH fan: Keep fingers crossed to not see too many “lower budget” SH titles in a future because that would mean that Konami lost their faith in SH brand profitability.
Also I think the possibility that Konami will sign with any japanese studio is pretty low. Reason? It’s US Konami division which is now responsible for SH games and they tend to cooperate with someone who speaks english. Unfortunately, Japanese are well known for not speaking english 🙁 Grasshopper is international studio so that one is more possible.

It will be interesting what next SH will be and who (from Konami) will be working on it. Downpour was apparently not a big success, Shattered Memories did quite well but consider that it was not “current gen” so production costs were significantly lower. Book of Memories hasn’t been relased yet. Producer in a publishing company is responsible for preparing a quality product which can be successfully marketed. If it doesn’t happen then…

Also please do not overestimate the role of developer in the whole process. Sure, he does graphics, animation, code, scenes, …. but he is not the owner of the game (IP). Everything he does must be passed to the owner (publisher) and he must implement all requested changes and ideas which come back. If owner doesn’t like something it won’t be in the game. If he likes something it WILL be in the game. So think about why monsters in Downpour look like they look. Usually developer presents a lot of various designs, drawings and concept arts to the publisher.

It’s interesting to read what successful indie (horror) game developer would do with SH brand. Unfortunately, I am afraid that all points they made also could be reasons why the game would not be signed or not finished. Pretty harsh, isn’t it? One thing is to go experimental and produce a game which is later selling for 10USD, the other thing is to fullfil publisher’s desire to have a product which can be on shelves for 50USD for platforms with publishing licence fees.

They’re no longer exclusive to Nintendo and they are well known due to the aforementioned game, and MGS Twin Snakes.

Shut up! If it wasn’t for Tomm, we would have now two Homecoming sequels, with Alex and Heather working together, and Josh and Alessa fighting each-other in a DBZ-type battle. No, I’m not kidding, this was stated in an interview.
Tomm practically saved the series!

Having Ito would wipe away the biggest weaknesses Downpour had (poor monster design, not scary/discomforting enough over all) and result in an awesome SH game.
Yeah, Ito lives far away from the Czech studio, but with the technology nowadays (and a bit of traveling from time to time) that should be no real problem. Wasn’t that much of a problem for Yamaoka when working with western teams either.

Because the Siren games were made by SCE Japan. Unless the next Silent Hill is PS3/4 exclusive, it won’t happen.
