Her voice. It’s like Lost Carol vocals.

I agree with you for the most part, but i don’t think you completely understood what point I was trying to make. I don’t think licht isn’t creative, i think he’s very creative and like you said he uses unique instruments and tools to create his music. He’s clearly good at what he does but akiras music is so deeply rooted into silent hill that I’m worried his soundtrack won’t stack up not that he isn’t as good of a composer and musician as akira (he’s actually probably better), the problem, for me anyway, is that it doesn’t sound like silent hill and the music isn’t alarming or unusual to me. it sounds like what I would expect to hear from something spooky, its incredibly atmospheric but it doesnt make me horrified by how unusual and discomforting it is, akiras crazy music made you feel as disoriented and terrified as one would assume the protagonist did. I’m sure licht’s soundtrack will work well in the game and Ill respect it more once i’ve played downpour (assuming the game isn’t a letdown) it’s just very difficult to imagine silent hill sounding any other way. I wish licht made it sound more bizarre and shocking or weird like akira’s was, he’s creative for sure but I feel like his sound is too familiar, like something I’ve heard many times before, akiras music was out there, calm and soft at one point and then alarming and rough the next. akira’s music took you on a roller coaster ride and greatly enhanced the surreal, frightening experience that is silent hill. perhaps downpour will be best suited for lichts style and I hope it is. I wouldnt want akiras trip hop playing to please fans if it didn’t suit the game for the sake of nostalgia.

I COMPLETELY disagree. dan is extremely creative even so far as using human bones for sound. i think your just not used to hearing a different style. its much more melodic and haunting vs. akira’s industrial rock sound. akira’s great but he moved on. thats what artists do, evolve and branch out. dan, in my opinion, brings a much more mature classy sound to silent hill. akira is more of a rocker, dan is classically trained dude. even downplaying mcglynn in favor of making the score the focal point. everyone has an opinion, but for someone who has worked with clive barker and stephen king, composed a recognized score from dexter and traveled around the world exploring music of all cultures, playing it safe is something dan licht NEVER DOES. its cool if you dont like his style, but calling it uncreative is just insulting. listen to it intensely, theres instruments going on in there you wouldnt believe and probably never heard of. THATS creative

He would have been a perfect replacement for Akira, in my opinion.

I find the OST interiguing. I like it.

It definitely isnt akiras music but its pretty top notch ambiant background music, I think it will heighten the tension well although it lacks the creativity and uniqueness of akiras music. licht doesn’t seem to really “go there” if that makes sense, he plays it a little to safe for me and that’s a little disappointing
