@CJ: well, since we’re into analyzing and all. Today I went to the Cowboys and Aliens flick. I coulda swear that Anne was modeled after Olivia Wilde.

Maybe its just me. Oh and that guard from the previous trailer who escorts Murphy outta prison. Looks like Kevin Bacon to me.

But hey maybe I’m just off target. Somehow, I’d like to know how the characters were modeled for Downpour. Just very curious about that.

Job well done, CJ. I always look forward to these analysis & I was not disappointed. Thanks for (as Ahmad put it) always being very thoughtful & dissecting these trailers thoroughly for us to further ponder what Silent Hill is bringing to us in the short future. I now have a lot more to think about until its release.

I think this is a pretty well thought out, pretty deep and dark, the only stupid things about it are the transitions that look like Alice in Wonderland and the soundtrack that doesn’t feature Akira and Mary-Elizabeth.

I think the game is either something linear, a crime that he committed and now he’s paying for it but I guess that would be pretty plain because the game hasn’t even come out yet and we’re discovering a picture of Murphy beating the shit outta someone so it might be a bit too obvious.

Or it could be a pretty dark psychological horror / thriller with some great, mind-bending twist that will flip the plot upside down.

For now I guess the story features Pedophilia or Child Abuse (as in he had a son whom he killed along with his wife maybe, or maybe he was the abused child who became a killer “Revenge” is mentioned in the trailer) or maybe the whole story will be something in his own fantasy, or maybe schizophrenia since there are two picture of Murphy with two different numbers, So maybe he’s creating a story in his mind while the truth is that he’s still a prisoner on his way to be executed so his mind created this fantasy to run away from reality, like the movie Lost Highway.

my opinion about what the plot is all about, judging from what i’ve seen in trailers + analysis …
– So it seems that Murphy has a family (photo on the wall in the prison cell)
– IMO, something terrible has happened to his family i tend to think that someone has been killed. Murphy couldn’t stand that of course and commited the act of vengeance(trailer directly points attention on “vengeance”). He actually killed the guilty one (maybe Murphy drowned that bastard. There has to be some death in water in the plot!)
– As a summary main character gaines both emtyness + darkness within himself (requirement to enter a dark silent hill)
– It seems that there are a couple of plot lines in the game, actually two at least : murphy storyline and cult storyline that eventualy intersect each other. The nun is a part of cult storyline, i dont think she is a positive character. Maybe she is obssesed with the thought that sinners must be punished (IMO)
– The nun summons that sick bastard with hammer as her minion, punish-machine(PM). Those cut-scenes with boy being tortured by that (PM) could be the representation of punishment to Murphy as a sinner: (PM) haunts kids and makes Murphy to see it – (PM) shows death of Murphy’s child – what can be more violent punishment than to show death/torture of Murphy’s own child!?
– The man that jumps off wooden balcony-type construction….. well maybe he is also a sinner, also lured to SH, and maybe also was haunted by that (PM) and as a result finds no other solution to his sins , but to kill himself in such way

Maybe i will re-think of some moments but those are my thoughts at this point.
