What RE8 made me realize is that I finally see Spencer’s and Wesker’s vision.

Lady Dimitrescu symbolizes what Wesker was trying to do. Perfect humanity by turning them into superhumans – literally. Greater in size, beauty, age and abilities. And all the monsters, all the experiments are just that, experiments and imperfections that were stepping stones towards the endgame.

Perhaps what started as the giant goliath in RE4 (the ugly semi-intelligent ogre) were the early stages of what Lady Dimitrescu came to be (enlarged perfected metahumans). Or Margarite’s insect-plague-crone were the early stages of what the three daughters of Dimitrescu came to be. As the games come and go, you begin to see what Umbrella was all about.

Unfortunately, the end does not justify the means and all those deaths and purges were simply not worth it, because all those people like Spencer, Wesker, Dimitrescu, Salazar, Alexia and Birkin, in their quests to become more than human sacrificed their own humanity and ended up becoming much less.

I am wondering, and I am sure this probably has been observed by others. Do you think the Village team may be borrowing elements of RE 3.5 for this game? The daughters remind me of the Hook man with their materializing and weapons use. The use of a Castle, it just gives me similar vibes to those trailers.

the game goes out of its way to put very clear markers on all relevant things in an environment that Marianne can interact with.

This seems like an odd complaint to make about the perspective when first person games will do this as well. I get not liking it, but attaching it to the fixed camera is a stretch.

RE7 was basically RE1 with a FPV make over and RE8 is essentially RE4 with a FPV make over and thats cool. Im not a fan of RE4s narrative but RE8s interests me alot and the writer of RE7 is directing RE8 and possibly wrote it too so there should be more focus this time around as a proper sequel. That said, What’s RE9s aka Apocalypse’ (If that really is RE9) inspiration gonna be? And surely they’ll continue with the FPV with that too so that we have a Trilogy of the different genres.

Be a great addition to the lore if we find out Umbrella was established jointly with the US Military counter this organization that would be associated in some way with the USSR during its reign.

well I respect them for trying to put survival horror back on the map. Third person I’m talking about everybody seems to be going the first person route nowadays. It’s getting played out
If I had an Xbox series X or Xss or whatever, I would most definitely buy this game new

I love the reference to the Progenitor flowers. It was something that immediately came to mind when I saw them on the lapels, as well.
