This is a year late, but claire’s quote is “my goddess protected you” and she’s specifically referring to the design on her vest. She’s not religious.

This reminds me of “My God has protected you. He will always be with you” in RE2, and it also contrasts a bit with Leon’s “I wish I believed God were looking down out on us” in RE 6.

As for Claire’s mix of infatuation and respect for Neil, I thought it was an interesting direction to take with her character, as it helped her get out of the “protect the little kid” niche and also contrast with her relationship with Steve in RECV.

I like Barry a lot, and I will actually be talking about him a bit in part two.

At least they touched upon Chris’ PTSD a little bit after the events of RE5 with the Viral Campaign that can still be seen on YouTube.

There is not much in the way of seperating their personalities. At least Chris has gotten more depth to his PTSD with RE5’s Viral Campaign and, as you mentioned here, in RE6. At least the two have gone through somewhat different experiences, what with Jill’s mind control and all, but even the official RE comics made a joke on Chris and Jill’s storylines in RE1 being mostly the same with them arguing after the mansion incident who was in the jail cell and who rescued who. It was hilarious, at least.

Leon’s I personally think hit rock bottom character development -wise in Vendetta (and seemingly altogether) and it is a shame they just reused Chris’ story from RE6. I didn’t feel that Claire was that much out of character in Revelations 2, especially considering how little we actually delved into this new romance thing. Moira was old enough to handle herself and Claire barely interacted with Natalia.

In any case, I’m looking forward to your next article on character development in the series. I like looking deeper into stuff like this.

The sewer gators, Jack, Lucas, Joe, and I personally really liked RE7 chris.

I WISH this were the case, but his PTSD was from the attack on his men within RE6. It would have been faaar more interesting had they connected to anything he’d done in previous games, especially if it had been due to a loss of purpose after defeating Wesker or something along those lines.
