Orders came from the boss today. Looks like we`re in charge of investigating the remains of the Arkley Mountains laboratory. We`re moving in two groups, with us in the initial group, assigned to start checking what`s left of the abandoned experiment.

July 16th

Unfortunately, the test production of B.O.W. (Type-Y139) had to be suspended because of this investigation. It`s the same with Type-Y139. There`s still so much we don`t know about responses to curstacean T-virus. There`s alot of interesting research left depending on the species and nuturing conditions, only minute doses of T bring about remarkable changes in solidity, size, multiplication of internal toxins, and brain development. If these effects can be controlled, a powerful weapon could be produced. But the sudden exceedingly weak. Problematically, one of these areas is the head carapace. This lab we are going to-were they pursu ing the same research? It would certainly help to find data and samples that would help us in our research.

The day is finally approaching… I am growing more anxious. The Raccoon City newspapers and TV stations are full of reports about bizarre murders in the suburbs. It can`t be the virus. Can it? BRAKE OPERATION MANUAL

Using the brake control. The following three steps are necessary to operate the brakes:

Step 1: Activating the controls. Brake controls are located in the following locations:

– Rear deck of the fifth car. To activate the system, you must insert the magnetic card into the device in the fifth car. This will supply power to both sets of controls.

Step 2: Enter rear deck code. Enter the coee for the rear deck unit to release the lock. After this, the driver`s compartment code can be input.

Step 3: Enter driver`s compartment code. Enter the code for the driver`s compartment unit to remove the lock. Upon completition of these three steps, the manual brakes will be available for use.

We finally did it… the new virus! We have called it the Progenitor. I want to carry it back and start detailed investigations immediately.

Spencers says he`s going to start a company. Well, i don`t care, as long as i can continue my research into Progenitor. He can do what he likes.

Spencer keeps asking me to be the director of his new training facility. Maybe it`s because of the business, but he`s becoming intolerably pushy. Maybe i can turn this to my advantage. I need a special facility to properly explore all the secrets of this virus. A place where no one will get in the way…

Damn that Spencer… He came to complain to me again today. He thinks of Progenitor as nothing more than a money-spinning tool. Fool! But if his influence continues to grow, it can only be bad for my research. If i am to properly develop Progenitor, i must strengthen my own position too.

At last…i`ve discovered a way to build a new virus type with Progenitor as a base. Mixing it with leech DNA was the breakthrough i needed. I call this new virus T, for “tyrant.”

It`s no good! i can`t hope for progress by experimenting on mere rodents. Only humans are a proper mammalian subject for these experiments. Otherwise, I`ll never make any real progress…

Dr. Marcus, co-founder, with President Spencer, of the Umbrella corporation. Dissappeared 20 years ago. The results of his research have been kept under wraps for all that time. The reason became clear at the training facility run by Dr. Marcus… … well not here exactly, but underground. When we ventured below, we understood…

There we found evidence of Dr. Marcus` research into the T-virus prototype called Progenitor. The evidence of years of hideous experimentation that used company employees as guinea pigs. We cannot know how many were forced to become subjects, but based on the evidence, no less than 20 inviduals were involved. some of them were taken deliberately to keep the corporation`s secret safe. where the doctor is now, i do not know. But considering the recent rapid growth of the Umbrella Corporation, I cannot imagine that this research is continuing. No…his experiment lives and continues to grow in the dark. Those things, the fruit of his research, they fill this facility.

Administrated T to 4 leeches. Their will to survive leads them first to parasitism and predation. Then they breed and multiply. Such a single-minded biology makes them attractive candidates for bio-weapons research. Afterward, no major changes observed.

7 days since administration of T. Rapid growth to double former size, sings of transformation emerging. Spawning successful. they double numbers in one hour, but their ravenous appetites lead them to cannibalism. Hastened to increase food supply, but lost 2 .

March 7th, 1978

Provided them with live food, but lost half when the live food fought back. however, the leeches are learning from experiences and are beginning to exhibit group attack behavior. They are also ceasing cannibalism. Their evolution is exceeding expectations.

April 22nd, 1978

The leeches no longer exhibit individual behavior, even when not feeding. They mvoe as collective. they consume everything i offer with remarkable efficiency.

B.O.W. REPORT

Research to date has shown that when the Progenitor virus is administrated to liveing organisms, violent cellular changes cause a breakdown in the system. Furthermore, no satisfactory method has been found to control the organismsfor use as weapons. Clearly, greater coordination at the cellular level is essential to enable further growth. I conducted a number of experiments in an effort to find a breakthrough. This is my report:

Insecta

Perhaps because these ancient animals have been genetically stable for millennia, when administered with the Progenitor virus they exhibit only explosive, highenegery growth and increased aggressiveness. It is extremely difficult to envision using them as B.O.W….

Amphibia

Injecting a frog with the virus resulted in an increase in leaping power and abnormal tongue growth. however, no change in mental ability was observed. Furthermore, an abnormal appetite resulted in the test subject randomly attacking all moving objects. Usefulness for B.O.W. is limited.

Mammalia

The progenitor virus was merged with monkeys` cellular DNA, resulting in increased fertility. The resulting young exhibited improved aggressiveness and some increased mental capacity. (As a side effect, visual power was lost, but this was offset by an improvement in hearing ability.) However, they where unsatisfactory as weapons. It does seem that no progress can be made without making humans the base organism.

After being remade for the GameCube, Capcom was aiming for a July/August 2002 release in Japan and a November one for the US market.

The appereance of CERO destroyed their plans though. CERO’s job is to control videogames that show explicit violence or/and gore. They then can decide if it necessary for the producer to cut the game.

Capcom of course feared this organization which was founded just two or three months before the planned release of RE Zero. The game was delayed until November, remained uncut though. Due to the complications Capcom Japan must have had with CERO, the game was released in USA earlier than in Japan.

You start with Rebecca in a normal train with broken tables etc. After you move little, the first zombies are standing up, but that’s no problem, because you have a lot of ammo. After you killed them you have to go through the right door, because the other one can only be opened with a lockpick, but you don’t have one yet. Well, you go through this door and you can see a locked door in front of you and you can also go upstairs. Before you go upstairs, you can grab another pack of ammo. Once you went upstairs, a burning zombie is attacking you. And after that another one. You kill them and grab some herbs in this room. This room who is filled with burning tables has another door. If you enter it you can see a ring on the floor. You grab it and put it in a small excavator. (to bring it down to Billy)

Now you start playing with Billy. You switch between Billy and Rebecca whenever you want by pressing the X-Button. Now playing with Billy, you claim this ring Rebecca sent down with the excavator and continue your investigation with Billy. After you grabbed another herb in this room you can also see great soup animations (yes, a soup moves in a plate). Next room with Billy you have to kill two dogs and grab a bag. You can also find another ring in here. So you need to put both rings into the bag to open it. Yes, after you did that, you can open the bag and inside there finally is a lockpick. You can check through another door, to go outside of the train and see great raining animations! Amazing! Well, so go back to the first room and through a door you can only open with your new lockpick. Now you are there where Rebecca went upstairs, remember?, Well you switch to Rebecca and go with her to see Billy. Also you can always change stuff from Billy and Rebecca`s inventar, so if Rebecca is wounded and Billy has a first aid spray you can give it to her easily.

Now you can go through the door Rebecca couldn’t go at the beginning. So back to where you started with Rebecca and switch over to Billy to open the door. After you went through this path and check the two rooms you go through another door to another part of the train, one path in the middle, stairs and tables on the side. 6 (!!) zombies are waiting to get killed here! You then also enter with Rebecca. Now there are stairs beside the doorway. After you go up you have to kill another 3 zombies. Meanwhile Rebecca stays downstairs. (if you want you can take her with you too of course) There is one emtpy room where you can only see a hole on the plavon and rain is coming in from there. You can go to another room, very small one with Billy and grab a shotgun (different than the shotgun in the Remake) But there are also two zombie waiting in here. After you claimed the shotgun you can go down the stairs again. You then go through another door. On the right you can see a smashed window where rain is coming inside extremely realistically! However, you then can see two doors on your right. Inside the first room you can find a normal knife. In the second one there is one herb plus some ammo for the handgun. Outside the room there is the path going on. You see a door which is closing and opening again due to the wind that comes into the train. But also one locked room! There is also a dead zombie (yeah he really is dead and doesn’t stand up, hehe) who keeps a first aid spray. After you grabbed it, go through the next door by using your lockpick and you will find yourself on a path outside of the train. Again, rain is coming down very realistically. At the end of this path, yeah you guessed right, another door, hehe. Now you are in the very front part of the train where you kill another zombie. You will also find a key here. Ah, yeah, so then rush back to the long path inside the train where you found the first aid spray and open the door nearby. Inside there is again very chilly lighteffects and a button near the doorway. Press it and some small wodden stairs are coming down from above. Of course you climb up the stairs and you find yourself in the, let me say “high class area”. Yeah, there is a nice bar and a lot of place to go, of course the tables aren`t missing too.

If you go on a video sequenze is coming and every RE fan knows this scene. The scorpion arrives! After this sequenze you can see your character shooting at the scorpion one time and then a bloody font shows up, saying “Coming Soon”.

Resident Evil 0 was originally planned for the Nintendo 64 console. First impressions where shown back in 1999. The graphics where looking amazing for a Nintendo 64 game. There even was a playable version of it shown at E³ 2000. In these early stages Rebecca and Billy were still our two main protagonists and were still on a train at the start. In fact lots seen in the 64 version reflects what we find in the final in terms of how it plays out and the story it tells with the exception of aesthetics which went over a lot of overhauling from this initial Resident Evil Zero conception.

In early 2001 first rumors spread around saying that it will most likely not be released on the “dying” Nintendo 64 hardware. Instead Capcom is remaking it for Nintendo Dolphin (later known as GameCube). In late 2001 Capcom signed the exclusive contract with Nintendo and announced RE Zero for the GameCube as well.

You can see some pictures and an advertisement from the N64 version below. Looking totally crappy you say? Well, it is now, but in 1999/2000 it was the best you could get out of the N64 hardware.

LEECH

LEECH QUEEN

Once it mutates, it becomes very vulnerable to sunlight and is photosensitive.
