Sorry, you can defend PE2 all you want, PE2 was just a bad RE clone.
Parasite Eve 1 was a legit great game. Wonky Mitochondira Will Rule Us All story and all.

Parasite Eve 2? Ughhhh.

Such a great game. While I agree with most of your points, I played this as a kid (when I wasn’t too over critical about things) and found it to be near perfect at the time. Nostalgia is a motherf***er.

I played the first one years after it came out. I think during the late PS2 era & just loved the eeriness of an empty N.Y plus Yoko Shimomura’s soundtrack. I tracked down 2 a while later & remember it feeling so weird on first play through. The charm was gone & while there’s some creepy moments it feels sterile.
I’ve softened on it & it’s become one of my favs to speed run. It’s still better than the 3rd Birthday.

Ironically, fast forward to 2019 and we could do with more RE clones. The reception to RE7 and RE2 isn’t a one off thing, people genuinely want more of these type of games that have been largely lost in modern gaming, at least in the AAA space.
